A life of creating
Art has the power to make the world more beautiful — and bring us closer together.
Mark Bertrand’s work moves between intimate carvings and immersive installations. Each piece begins with curiosity and becomes an invitation: look closer, feel something, connect.

Monumental art
Heartstead
An enormous anatomical heart made for people to experience from within. At Burning Man, it became a place to gather, explore, and remember what art can make possible between strangers.

The artist
A life of creating.
Mark has been drawn to art, music, and building things for as long as he can remember. After serving four years as an Army medic, including two overseas tours, a serious car accident changed the way he could create — but not the need to create.
Wood sculpture opened a new path, eventually leading to ambitious commissions, stone carving, and monumental work. The heart became a recurring symbol: life, love, resilience, generosity, and the connections that make a life meaningful.
His work is an ongoing invitation to create, explore, challenge assumptions, and make the world a little more beautiful.
The next chapter
Dreaming bigger.
The next major installation is a twenty-foot peace-sign hand — a monumental work designed to transform from day into night with sculpted surfaces, exposed steel, and light.
